St. Louis Lambert International Airport Transfers

There are several options for transferring to or from St Louis International Airport from or to downtown St Louis. Before proceeding to your chosen means of transfer, please make sure to collect your entire belongings from the baggage claim area. The available options of transfer from the airport, and to, include rental cars, taxis, light rail and buses.

Transfers at St. Louis Lambert Airport

Terminal Shuttles – The airport provides a complimentary shuttle service to transport travelers from one terminal to the other, to and from the various parking lots and to and from the Bus Port. Buses depart from Exit Doors 12 of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Rental Cars – There are several car rental companies at St. Louis International Airport. All companies’ offices are located off-airport in their various locations. Free shuttle buses are provided by all companies for the transfer of their customers between their offices and the two terminals.

It is recommended to have the rental car arranged before arriving at the airport.

Complimentary shuttles collect their customers outside Exit 17 at Terminal 1 and outside Exit 12 at Terminal 2.

When returning a rented vehicle, please do so at the same location as the companies’ office unless otherwise informed.

Remember to remove all personal belongings from the vehicle before returning it.

Buses – MetroBus used to provide a bus route at the airport, but no longer does.

There are, however, Greyhound buses that connect the airport with central St Louis as well as other destinations. The buses stop at the Bus Port located near Terminal 1. There is a tunnel from Terminal 1, outside exit 16 on the yellow level, leading to the Bus Port, and the airport terminal shuttles also go there. Hotel Shuttles – Some hotels and motels in the area provide an airport shuttle service to their guests. The airport provides toll free hotel/motel phone centers in both terminals so travelers can contact their accommodation when arriving at the airport. In Terminal 1 they can be found near Doors 12, 17 and 18 in the lower level baggage claim area, and in Terminal 2 it can be found near Door 12 on lower level. Taxis – Taxi ranks are located outside both terminals. At Terminal 1 taxi cabs can be found outside Exit Door 14 to Garage Yellow Level and at Terminal 2 they are located outside Exit Door 12. The journey to downtown St Louis will take around 35 minutes and it will cost around $50, depending on traffic conditions.

ADA accessible taxis are available for both pre-arrangement as well as for on-call at the airport.

RideShares – Uber and Lyft operate at the airport and they collect their customers outside Exit Door 6, on Ticketing Level, at Terminal 1 and outside Exit Door 15 at Terminal 2. These transfers are arranged by the traveler directly through the rideshare companies’ app or website.

Light Rail – MetroLink is a light rail system that provides light rail train services to the metropolitan St Louis area, including downtown St Louis and several St Louis County municipalities, as well as to St Clair and Monroe Counties in Illinois.

Each of the terminals has a MetroLink station. At Terminal 1 it is located on Ticketing Level, at Exit Door 1, east of the ticket counters and at Terminal 2 it is found at Exit Door 12 through the Parking Garage. Tickets are sold at the stations or online. The journey takes around 35 minutes to downtown St Louis.

Amtrak – Amtrak trains can be found at the Gateway Transportation Center in central St Louis, at the same place as the central Greyhound station is located. More information about rail services near St. Louis International Airport.
